Staff Spotlight: Mike

AllSpicer Mike

Mike is one of the newest members of our spice-slinging crew. If you tend to shop with us over the weekend or on Mondays, he'll be a familiar face. He and AllSpicer Dani hold the fort down on Sundays and are basically a two-person comedy crew - so that's the day to come in if you also want some live entertainment with your spices.

We sat down with him and asked him about all sorts of things to help you get to know him better:

What's your favorite food?

"Italian food." We asked for specifics and got a long list, so we think it's safe to say he loves most of it!

What do you like most about working at AllSpice?

Mike loves interacting with customers, so you'll usually find him on the sales floor. "I enjoy finding out more about what our customers are looking for and how they plan to use it. Like everyone else on the team, I learn something new every time I work."

What are you up to when you're not at the shop?

Mike is our resident jetsetter, so when he's not at the shop, you probably won't find him...at least around here. This year alone he's been to Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, San Marino, Vatican City, and the Bahamas.

He loves to explore the local cultures and foods and enjoys traveling solo just as much as taking a trip with a group of friends.

What's something most people don't know about you?

Mike is a Snoopy "super fan" and is a lifetime member of the Snoopy Fan Club. He's loved Snoopy and the entire Peanuts crew since he was a child and still has most of his Peanuts toys. His most prized possession is a book cartoonist and Peanuts creator Charles Schulz autographed for him.

What do you like to cook?

Mike is a fan of one-pan meals, casseroles, and comfort food. "Throw the meat and veggies in a single pan or dish and I'll probably like it," says Mike. "Mix in a can or two of cream-of-anything soups and you can't go wrong!"

How did you find out about AllSpice?

Mike has been a customer of the shop since the very beginning. "I love the variety and quality of the spices," he says. "When I saw the shop had an open position just as I was planning to retire, I jumped on it," he told us. And we're really glad to have him!

Make sure to say hi to Mike the next time you see him and ask him about Peanuts, Snoopy, and casseroles.
