Staff Spotlight: Carter

Hey everyone, meet AllSpicer Carter, who joined the Des Moines East Village team earlier this summer. We asked her our favorite hard-hitting questions to help you get to know her better.

How did you learn about AllSpice?

My godfathers Andy and Rory have owned the shop for several years and introduced our family to the world of spices. It wasn't long before we'd become regulars!

What's your favorite food?

I enjoy pastas, stir-fry, and rice bowls the most.

What do you like to cook?

My favorite things to cook are usually pastas, but I enjoy baking cakes too (more about that in a minute).

What's something most people don't know about you?

I owned a small baking business during COVID while I was in high school. It was a fun way to earn a little cash while things were shut down while also bringing a little (culinary) joy to people doing something I enjoy.

What do you like to do when you're not at the shop?

I sill enjoy baking for fun, but I also love making art. I’m currently taking animation and art classes at DMACC.

What do you like most about working at AllSpice?

The atmosphere of the shop and people working and shopping at AllSpice are always super cool. Everyone’s super chill and welcoming, and the vibes are good!

What's your favorite guilty (culinary) pleasure? 

I’ve got a garlic butter noodle recipe that’s super tasty and goes really well with air-fried garlic bread! It's one of my favorite things ever, but isn't exactly the healthiest option.

What's your favorite AllSpice ingredient?

really like the Parmesan Garlic Bread Seasoning. We use it on top of garlic bread, and then air-fry it to crispy goodness. The Roasted Garlic Salt is a close second. I just picked up a jar and we’ve already used half of it!
